News

Ruth is embarking on a groundbreaking solo violin concert tour called Hidden Acoustics in association with Open City (formerly London Open House), National Trust, English Heritage and other venues and promoters such as Temple Church and New York University. Using a selection of repertoire based around Bach's solo works, Hidden Acoustics is designed to allow audiences an auditory and visual experience of hidden architectural gems and dynamic spaces which have unexplored, startling acoustics. The project was premiered to great success at the Bath Literary Festival on 3rd March and tickets were sold out two months in advance.

Ruth says, “Bach's music has its own hidden acoustics in its counterpoint, and I have found that solo violin allows me the most direct link to the space and acoustic of the building in which I am playing. To me, when the piece of music and the building match in spirit, something magical happens.” As Daniel Libeskind said, “That raw communication between the building and the person, the child so to speak, standing in front of it and being in it, that is really the discourse; it’s an experience that you have with your body, with your mind, with your soul.”

Ruth's next recording of Bartok Solo Sonata and Bach Partita No.2 in D minor will be released alongside the tour.
